SUICIDAL TENDENCIES: 'Return To Venice' To Include New LOS CYCOS Recordings
October 17, 2004SUICIDAL TENDENCIES' upcoming "Return to Venice" project will feature the first new recordings from LOS CYCOS since the "Welcome to Venice" album. LOS CYCOS were one of the five original bands on the "Welcome to Venice" LP. The others were NO MERCY, BEOWÜLF, EXCEL and, of course, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES. The LOS CYCOS song "It's Not Easy" was also re-recorded for SUICIDAL TENDENCIES' "Controlled By Hatred / Feel Like Shit... Deja-Vu" album.
"It's not Easy" was written by SUICIDAL TENDENCIES frontman Mike Muir, who also laid down the vocals on the track. LOS CYCOS did one demo that remains hidden away. However, two of those songs will finally be recorded and released on the "Return to Venice" project.
"LOS CYCOS' sound was different from the other groups, but [it] did have its own sound, that to this day, we still get emails asking about this little known group," reads a posting on SUICIDAL TENDENCIES' web site. "Recording these two songs for this project was a lot of fun. You will see that having the SUICIDAL TENDENCIES band playing them really brought them to life so many years later, but you still can see how they easily could have been on the original 'Welcome to Venice' (of course the recordings and musicianship are much better now). Still, we predict these tracks will be the 'surprise' sleeper tracks from this project to a lot of people. Of course, we hope alot of people will be as excited as we are about this project after they hear it, but if it didn't piss off/bum out some people, it wouldn't be worth doing, lol."
